Mission Statement: The mission of the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center is to intervene and educate to reduce family violence.
Description of Services:
- Children’s Advocacy Center: Forensic Interviews, Crisis Intervention and Case Management Services for Victims and Non-offending Family Members, Safety Education, Court Preparation, On-Site Medical Exams.
- Children Who Witness Violence Program: Children who have witnessed violence receive in-home crisis intervention services. The goal of the program is to help the child overcome the trauma of violence and to minimize the effects of exposure to violence on the child. Families are also linked with helpful community resources.
- Domestic Violence Advocacy Program: Advocates provide information on domestic violence and legal options available to victims in Lucas and Ottawa Counties. Advocates accompany victims to Municipal and Domestic Relations Courts, assist with safety planning, and link victims to other helpful community resources. Advocates are available to conduct presentations for students, community groups, and area professionals on topics related to domestic violence, dating violence, and healthy relationships.
- Help Me Grow: Help Me Grow is a home visitation program designed to assist families with children who are developmentally delayed or have a medical diagnosis that could result in developmental delays up to age three.
- Child Abuse Prevention Program: CAPP teaches children how to recognize dangerous and abusive situations and how to seek help from trusted adults., and the Lucas County Child Abuse Task Force.
