In January 2016, the Ohio Latino Affairs Commission collaborated with the Educational Service Center of Central Ohio and the State Support Team 11 to conduct a workshop on the Educational Considerations for Students with Undocumented Immigration Status. The day's presenters included Dana Weber, Brenda Custodio, and Luis Fernando Macías.
The purpose of this workshop was to facilitate discussion and provide perspective on the following questions: Who are the undocumented and why are they here? What are the social/emotional barriers to educational success? What are their educational rights? How can we support the students and their families? What resources are available for teachers?
The following video recordings capture discussions that took place during this unique workshop and provide insight on these topics.
